Clogged Drain? We'll Clear It.
Professional drain cleaning throughout the Triad — from single drains to main line blockages.

When the Drain Won't Drain, Call a Plumber
Slow drains are annoying. Clogged drains stop your day. And that bottle of drain cleaner from the hardware store? It often makes things worse — chemical cleaners can damage pipes and rarely clear serious blockages.
All-Star Plumbing clears drains throughout High Point, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and the Triad. Kitchen sinks, bathroom drains, floor drains, main lines — we have the equipment to clear blockages and get water flowing again.
According to plumbing industry data, drain clogs are the most common reason homeowners call a plumber. We handle dozens of drain calls every week. We’ve seen every type of clog and know how to clear them efficiently.
Signs You Need Professional Drain Cleaning
Some clogs are obvious. Others sneak up on you. Here’s what to watch for.
Drain Is Completely Stopped
- What it means: Full blockage. Water won't go down at all.
- DIY first: Try a plunger. If that doesn't work, call us.
Drain Is Slow
- What it means: Partial blockage — buildup is restricting flow but not completely blocking it.
- Why act now: Slow drains become stopped drains. Clear it before it gets worse.
Multiple Drains Are Slow
- What it means: Problem is in the main drain line, not individual fixtures. All drains connect to the main, so blockage there affects everything.
- Urgency: High. Main line blockage can lead to sewage backup.
Water Backs Up in Other Drains
- What it means: When you use one fixture, water comes up in another (toilet backs into tub, for example). Main line issue.
- Urgency: Call us. This is heading toward a full backup.
Gurgling Sounds
- What it means: Air is being pushed through water in the P-trap — usually because drainage is restricted somewhere in the system.
- What to do: Get it checked before it becomes a full clog.
Bad Smell From Drain
- What it means: Organic matter is decomposing in the drain. Could be in the P-trap, drain line, or further down.
- What to do: Cleaning clears the smell source.
Recurring Clogs
- What it means: If you're clearing the same drain repeatedly, there's an underlying issue — buildup, root intrusion, pipe damage, or improper slope.
- What to do: Camera inspection may be needed to find the real cause.
Drains We Clean
We clean every drain in your home — and commercial properties too.
Kitchen Sink Drains
Grease, food particles, and soap buildup are the usual culprits. Kitchen drains see heavy use and clog frequently.
Bathroom Sink Drains
Hair, soap scum, toothpaste, and grooming products accumulate in bathroom drains.
Shower and Tub Drains
Hair is the #1 cause of shower and tub clogs. It combines with soap to form stubborn blockages.
Toilet Drains
Paper clogs, foreign objects (kids flush things), or partial blockages in the drain line.
Floor Drains
Basement, garage, laundry room, and utility floor drains can clog with debris, sediment, or sewage backup.
What we do: Clear and flush the drain. If it’s backing up, we check the main line.
Main Drain Line
The main line carries waste from all fixtures to the sewer or septic. When it clogs, everything backs up.
Outdoor and Yard Drains
French drains, catch basins, and yard drains can clog with leaves, dirt, and debris.
What we do:Clear the blockage and flush the line.
How We Clear Drains
Different clogs need different approaches. We use professional methods that actually work.
- Drain Cable (Snake)
A flexible metal cable with a cutting head that breaks through clogs and clears blockages. The standard method for most residential clogs.
- Drum Auger
Larger, more powerful than a hand snake. Used for tougher clogs and longer runs.
High-pressure water (3,000-4,000 PSI) blasts through blockages and scours pipe walls clean. The most thorough cleaning method.
Best for: Grease buildup, heavy scale, root intrusion, commercial drains.
Video camera inspection shows us exactly what’s causing the clog — buildup, roots, damage, foreign objects.
Why We Don't Recommend Chemical Drain Cleaners
That bottle of Drano from the store? Here’s why we don’t recommend it.
- They Damage Pipes
Chemical drain cleaners generate heat through chemical reactions. This can soften PVC pipes and corrode metal pipes over time.
- They Often Don't Work
Chemical cleaners may dissolve hair or grease near the drain opening, but they rarely clear significant blockages. The clog often returns.
- They're Dangerous
Strong chemicals can burn skin and eyes, release toxic fumes, and create dangerous reactions if mixed with other products.
- They Make Our Job Harder
If chemicals are sitting in a clogged drain when we arrive, we have to work around caustic substances. It’s a safety issue.
- Professional Cleaning Works Better
Mechanical cleaning for cables, augers, hydro jetting that will physically remove your clog. It’s more effective, safer for pipes, and solves the problem.

Drain Cleaning Questions
How much does drain cleaning cost?
Standard drain cleaning typically runs $100-$250 depending on the drain and severity. Main line cleaning costs more. We quote before starting.
How long does drain cleaning take?
Most single-drain clogs take 30-60 minutes. Main line cleaning may take longer. We’ll give you a timeframe when we arrive.
Can I use Drano before you come?
We’d prefer you don’t. It rarely works on serious clogs and creates a safety issue for us. If you already have, let us know.
Why does my drain keep clogging?
Recurring clogs usually mean buildup in the pipe, root intrusion, or pipe damage. Camera inspection identifies the cause so we can fix it permanently.
What shouldn't go down my drain?
Kitchen: No grease, oil, or food scraps (even with a disposal, go easy). Bathroom: No “flushable” wipes, feminine products, or cotton swabs. These cause most residential clogs.
Do you clean main sewer lines?
Yes. We clean main lines with professional drain cables and hydro jetting. If we find damage during cleaning, we can repair that too.
How can I prevent clogged drains?
Don’t pour grease down drains. Use drain screens in showers. Only flush toilet paper. Run hot water after using garbage disposal. Consider annual drain maintenance for older homes.
